We have once again teamed with Australian Red Cross to offer free online CPR courses as part of our annual April Pools Day campaign.

John O’Brien , CEO and Founder of Poolwerx, said recent research showed that only 39 percent of pool owners had adequate CPR skills¹ – an alarming statistic considering that there are 2.7 million pool owners in Australia².

“We started the April Pools Day initiative four years ago, to give people easy and free access to online CPR courses that could help them save a life.

We know that children are 50 percent more likely to survive if given CPR immediately³ and that’s why it is so important for everyone to learn CPR.”

Alongside Laurie Lawrence's Kids Alive program, we want to spread the word to all Australian's about the importance of learning CPR

CPR SAVES LIVES

Jane Moana, mother of 5, knows just how vital CPR qualifications are after she had to revive her beautiful little boy Zac, and she is urging parents not to miss the opportunity available through April Pools Day.

“You never think it will happen to you and I was certainly one of those parents. Zac was only 18 months old when I found him unconscious floating in the pool.

It all happened so quickly but next thing I knew I had jumped in the pool and I was screaming for help. I couldn’t tell if he had a pulse, so I pulled him out and started to give him CPR.”

Zac was taken to hospital but given the all clear later that evening with doctors telling Jane’s family they were very lucky. The main reason Zac had no major injuries was because she started CPR so quickly.

“So many people have asked me how I stayed so calm under that pressure and the answer is training. I refresh my CPR skills each year and it really does teach you how to react under pressure. Even with the pain of having to do it to my own child it just kicked in when I needed it most. I can’t even fathom what it would have felt like if I didn’t know how to save him.”
