We made a splash at last night’s National Franchise Council of Australia Excellence in Franchising Awards with a double win! Our talented Marketing Team took out the Excellence in Marketing award while Queensland Business Development Manager Phil Colburn was recognised with the National Field Manager of the Year Award. Held virtually, the awards recognised Australia’s high-achieving franchise networks, small business owners and franchise support staff, showcasing their amazing work in the franchising sector.
Excellence in Marketing Award
The Excellence in Marketing award went to our talented marketing team for their exceptional work on the Pool Blanket campaign. In the height of the drought, when they noticed increased engagement around the Pool Owners in Drought blog, the team created a two-month campaign that leveraged smart technology and data insights to generate close to 1,500 leads directly to Franchise Partners. Our pool blanket campaign generated outstanding results for Franchise Partners and the broader business. The campaign saw a 230 per cent uplift on pool blanket sales year on year, with many learnings since becoming best practice.
National Field Manager of the Year Award
Mr Colburn was recognised for his commitment to the network over the year, providing endless support, advice and coaching to franchise partners and fellow team members, and his commitment to professional development within the broader pool and franchising industry. After a 30-year career in franchising, in support roles and as a franchisee himself, Mr Colburn joined Poolwerx in 2016, where he is responsible for the growth of the Brisbane South, Northern Territory and New Zealand regions, encompassing 27 partners, 45 territories and 25 stores.
Poolwerx Chief Operating Officer, Nic Brill said he was delighted to see the team’s hard work recognised by the council. “These awards are a testament to the strength of our business model, which continues to positively impact the lives and livelihoods of our franchise partners around the country. Our team’s passion, determination and motivation for constant improvement continue to drive our business forward,” Mr Brill said. “Our campaign to promote pool blankets to help reduce water consumption at the height of the drought tapped into the sustainability zeitgeist while providing a real solution, which resonated with our clients and the broader community.
“Phil is an undeniably remarkable member of our team and this national recognition is very well deserved. It recognises his hard work across the business and industry. Phil truly embodies the Poolwerx values, putting people first, finding the better way and daring to succeed – always.”
