Every journey is different and our goal is to help you understand what Poolwerx has to offer to help you determine if Poolwerx is the right fit for you, but likewise if you are the right fit for Poolwerx. Here we answer the top 10 questions to ask before buying a franchise business: How do you determine your territories? We have exclusive marketing areas, which are determined by swimming pool numbers and postcodes. We know that to operate a successful retail store and three mobile service vehicles you need a minimum number of swimming pools per marketing area so we monitor this closely. I have owned my own swimming pool and loved looking after it – do you train me? Yes, we provide full training when you join Poolwerx. Our initial training commences with 40 hours of online tutorials, which is the commencement of a Certificate III in Swimming Pool & Spa Maintenance. This is followed by three weeks in-house training, followed by a 12 month Forming Good Habits program once you commence in your franchise. Do you provide finance to purchase a franchise? Most Franchise Partners will need to obtain a loan to purchase their franchised business. Joining a well-established franchise network is often looked at favourably by banks, making it easier to obtain financing. Poolwerx has developed strong relationships with a number of major banks across Australia to help prospective franchisees obtain financing, which we can help facilitate. What happens when I want to sell? Your franchise is yours to sell. Your franchise agreement outlines the requirements for a sale, and the prospective buyer will need to go through our standard recruitment and selection process. What are the fees you charge? We operate on a sliding fee scale which includes service fees and marketing fees based on gross turnover. These fees are performance-based and also consider whether you have a retail shop front. Full details are provided in our Franchise Disclosure Document. How much does it cost to purchase a franchise? The initial investment for a franchise depends on a range of factors, including the marketing area, location and size. Initial investments can range from $110,000 (plus the cost of a van) to over $500,000. Do you provide an Income Guarantee? We don’t provide income guarantees but what we do offer is 25 years of successful franchise partners backed by great margins and profits, systems, training and support. Being an FCA Multi-Award Winning Franchise means our business works and delivers success to those that follow the system. What type of vehicle do I need to operate a Mobile Unit? Your primary vehicle needs to be a Hyundai iLoad van. How long does your recruitment onboarding process take? Once approved, you could be operational in as little as three months. During that time, you will attend our Discovery Day, commence your online training and complete three weeks of in-house training. Your cooperation with the franchising team will ensure your application progresses as quickly as possible. As a franchise partner am I required to operate a retail store? Yes. Everyone who starts with Poolwerx will be expected to transition to a Retail Store. To be successful, it is essential that the franchise partner is personally involved in all aspects of the business. What Training Can I Expect When I Buy a Franchise? Franchising What Training Can I Expect When I Buy a Franchise? As a Poolwerx Franchise Partner, your success is our success. You do not require prior experience in pool and spa management to become a successful Franchise Partner. Instead, we invest in quality training and ongoing support to help you succeed and flourish in your Poolwerx business. Our in-house Pool School introduces you to everything you need to know as a Franchise Partner. From the technicalities of pool and spa management to the key concepts that will help you succeed in your day-to-day business operations. This training is supported by field visits to ensure you develop an authentic understanding of all concepts. The end of your formal Pool School training isn’t the end of the support we provide. As a Franchise Partner, we invite and encourage you to attend additional training, including training that you’ve identified as an area of particular interest. This may include marketing, bookwork, IT and more. We offer training support to all our Franchise Partners from our regional Business Development Managers, our Poolwerx support centre staff in Brisbane and frequent interaction with fellow Franchise Partners. This training is reinforced by information and modules at monthly business meetings, state conferences, the national convention and special events.   Training Our structured training programs not only get you started in the Poolwerx way of life – they also ensure that every Franchise Partner and their team receives the latest and most up-to-date business and pool maintenance training. Training programs cover a range of business and industry-specific topics including bookkeeping, marketing, commercial sales, legislation, Human Resources, First Aid, water chemistry, plumbing, problem-solving and commercial pools. Poolwerx also works closely with industry bodies such as the Swimming Pool and Spa Association of Australia (SPASA) and local, state and national government entities to obtain Certificate III and Certificate IV in Swimming Pool and Spa Maintenance and Service for you and your team. Pool School The Pool School program is delivered to all Franchise Partners as they join Poolwerx, regardless of your background and experience. Delivered through classroom and practical methods, this program prepares you to succeed as a Poolwerx Franchise Partner. Development Workshops We offer ongoing learning for all our Franchise Partners and your staff throughout your Poolwerx journey. Every development season (May-August), our support centre staff and specialist trainers hit the road to deliver face-to-face training. From the latest products and equipment to legislation updates or technology advances, development season is a great time to continue your learning. Online Training The combined knowledge and experience of our Poolwerx trainers and support staff is hard to match in any industry. From the smallest blow-up pool to huge water parks and film special effects, we’ve “been there, done that.” To leverage this huge pool of knowledge (pun intended!), we’ve created e-learning content for all our Franchise Partners. This content can be accessed 24 / 7 by you and your team via our online training portal. Not only is it a great way to ensure the whole team is up-to-date, it also helps you retain and train your staff. Support There’s a saying often used in franchising, “in business for yourself, not by yourself.” Nothing could ring more true when it comes to the wide range of support services offered to you by Poolwerx. This list is not exhaustive but should be used as a guide for planning. Your Poolwerx journey will be supported primarily by your Business Development Manager. You’ll also be supported by our highly experienced, multi-award-winning, and multi-disciplined Poolwerx field team. Your face-to-face engagement with this team begins after Pool School where you will complete the ‘forming good habits’ program. This program is competency-based and completed as you work. The field team will work with you to complete quarterly reviews and annual business planning, supporting you to achieve both your personal and business goals. The Commercial Team is responsible for building national relationships with Commercial Partners across the areas of Real Estate, Pool Builders, Insurance, Strata / Bodies Corporate, Hospitality, and Institutions. They work alongside our Franchise Partners to attend national roadshows and conferences, driving national leads at a local level. Poolwerx is the preferred supplier to many of these sales verticals. Human Resources Poolwerx offers in-house Human Resource support through employment contract templates, recruitment advice, and staff management issues. We can also advise and assist you on all Industrial Relations and Occupational Safety and Health issues. ICT Accessing IT support services is simple within the Poolwerx system. With remote training and support, any tricky computer issues can be resolved quickly. Technical No matter what technical issue you may face, with more than 600 Poolwerx people internationally, there is always someone to ask for help and guidance. This help is often accessed through forums, but a quick call to our support centre staff can also quickly resolve any problems. This team is also responsible for a robust Road to Market program where all products sold through the Poolwerx network are tested under tough conditions to ensure we only sell the best products to your clients. 4 Tiers in 5 Years As part of our commitment to your Poolwerx business success, we encourage you to grow and develop through our 4 Tiers in 5 Years business development program. He’s also survived through five economic corrections in that time, so understands what it takes to build a resilient business. Beyond his passion for entrepreneurship, John’s club footy career is almost as impressive. He got his first kick as a seven-year-old growing up in rural Victoria and didn’t hang up his footy boots until 36 years later, with more than 500 games of Aussie Rules and Gaelic footy under his belt. As a business entrepreneur, he’s survived through five economic corrections and says the lessons he learned on the field have helped shape his business views and values. 1. Find the better way – only by constantly training and evolving as a player, team and business can you get ahead of the curve. “The day players or executives feel they know it all is the day they need to hang up their boots,” says John. 2. That’s why franchising has been my career, it’s one big team,” says John.
