Poolwerx is Australia’s largest franchised Pool and Spa care network of retail stores and mobile vans.  The Poolwerx Mt Gravatt Group is one of the largest Franchised businesses within the Poolwerx network – we’re on a growth trajectory and are currently seeking a senior and experienced Pool & Spa Technician Lead to join our business.

About the role

Key functions of our Head Service Technician include:

  • Delight and satisfy our clients by delivering best in class customer service
  • Analyse and remedy equipment issues during scheduled and call-out services
  • Provide authentic leadership and caring guidance to our pool and spa Technicians whilst in the field
  • Support, coach, train and mentor the pool and spa technician team
  • Ensure best practices are followed by the technician team in respect of manual handling and WH&S procedures in the field
  • Design and improve work-flows and procedures to ensure the technician team operates efficiently and is always getting better
  • Respond to emergency call outs from key commercial and residential clients
  • Provide remote monitoring services and take remedy action for key commercial pool clients, sometimes involving out of hours and weekend work
  • Ensure administrative responsibilities including; client diagnosis, quoted repair costs, repair works and completion reports are captured correctly using our mobile service app
  • Communicate with the Franchise Partner about any client complaints and all sales opportunities
  • Ensure efficient water testing / balancing and adding of chemicals is performed
  • Oversee and execute the installation, plumbing and maintenance of all commercial pool equipment – no project is too big!
  • Deliver effective and clear communication with clients and technician team members
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels of chemicals and parts in service vehicles to ensure completion of service and / or repair during client visits
  • Be responsible for the performance review discussions and performance management of the pool and spa technician team
  • Manual handling / lifting of heavy items up to 20kgs
  • Additional administration duties and responsibilities including reporting tasks and maintenance ofcompany service vehicle as required

 Skills and experience

Make no mistake, we are looking for the best. To be successful in this role we are looking for someone with at least 7 years commercial pool and spa industry experience, who’s prepared to muck in and get the job done. The key requirements for our Technician Team Lead include:

  • Market leading knowledge and a strong commercial technical background in water chemistry, pool equipment and filtration systems – you know pools of all shapes and sizes and what it takes to keep them healthy
  • Experience in basic hydraulics and water treatment – plant rooms and complicated plumbing don’t scare you, you’re up for any challenge
  • Enjoy working outdoors in a physical role – you take care of yourself and those around you
  • Comfortable working in sometimes tight and noisy spaces – you’re aware of your working environment and take the necessary precautions to keep safe
  • Self-motivated and positive – you possess and display a can-do attitude every time
  • Well presented and act in a professional manner at all times – you take pride in your appearance and your work
  • Results driven and team orientated with strong problem-solving skills within a complex environment – you love trouble shooting, solving problems and helping others – you care passionately about the team
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability and desire to service client to a very high standard – the client comes first
  • Able to work unsupervised – you thrive under pressure and manage competing priorities well
  • Keen to keep learning and growing – you don’t know it all yet and are not afraid to admit it
  • Punctual, reliable, courteous and trustworthy – the non-negotiables come naturally to you – you’re the same person at home, as you are at work
  • Current CPR certificate is highly regarded
  • Prior management and responsibility of others is highly sought after
  • Possess a current open manual driver’s licence is a must
  • Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
  • Candidates must also be willing to provide;
    • A current CVC police check
    • A Blue Card
    • A Medical certificate
