Poolwerx is proud to be the organiser of Learn2Swim Week. Drowning is the greatest cause of accidental death in children under five in Australia.
We hope this special event with Laurie Lawrence and his Kids Alive – Do the Five program will lead to more children learning the vital skills of how to swim and ultimately help reduce our drowning statistics.
It is an inaugural awareness week aimed at educating parents on the importance of teaching kids aged under five to swim. It’s also about reminding everyone about the importance of water safety.
Worldwide, drowning is the number one cause of accidental death in children under 5 years of age. In Australia, one person on average, drowns every week. Teaching a child to swim early is the best prevention.
During Learn2Swim Week, free swim lessons are offered to children aged under five at participating swim schools across the country.
“We are teaming up with Poolwerx to take our ‘Kids Alive – Do the Five’ message to thousands of adults and children across the country, targeting the area where water safety is absolutely critical – in our own backyards,” said Laurie Lawrence.
“We want the simple steps people can take to reduce the risk of a tragedy or near tragedy to become part of everyday Australian lifestyle, and Poolwerx provides the perfect platform to support us with its wide footprint across the country.”
Poolwerx CEO John O’Brien said Poolwerx was committed to promoting water safety awareness.
“This Learn2Swim Week campaign is a collective effort and something we’re all passionate about. Our franchisees are committed to driving water safety education through our stores, service vans and as part of our community outreach.”
